No Sew Lace Sweatshirt

OK, if you guys watch my videos you know how much I love lace.  If you know me personally, you may think I need a 12 step program in my wardrobe.  So it won't shock most of you to see that I found a way to add lace to a sweatshirt.

It helped this project when I saw that Old Navy has a whole store full of sweatshirts for the whole family right now.  There are so many colors to choose from.  There are even some with embellishments on top or cute phrases and even stripes.

I am equally excited to try this with one of my favorite college sweatshirts for game day!  It would be adorable added to your school or team sweatshirt.

Items Needed For This Project:

  • Sweatshirt:  new or used.  Stores I have seen cute affordable sweatshirts:  Target, Old Navy, Forever 21, and H&M
  • Lace:  You can use that you might have laying around or you can go to any fabric store and find affordable cute lace.  I do recommend lace that is gathered.
  • You have a couple choices for attaching your lace:  liquid stitch ( I preferred this method) Heat-n-Bond tape (this is an ironing method.  Directions on package ) Last, if you have a sewing machine you may prefer to just sew your shirt. Liquid stitch and HeatnBond can be found at craft stores or fabric stores. There are also alternate brand of these items.  I can only verify results of brands shown.
  • Misc: scissors, ruler and pins.

I would love to see what you make!  Please post on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter and tag me! Links are at the top of this page.

  2. Hi I was wondering how you actually did this- I have both heat and bond and liquid stitch but I am not great at diy and worse at sewing. How well does the liquid stitch work? Any tips?
