Skeleton Key Necklace

I have been wanting to do this project for a long time.  Yea! I finally did it.  If you go to etsy and type in skeleton key necklace there are several super cute ideas.  I love versital jewelry that can go with lots of things.  This is definitely one of those necklaces.

Items Needed For This Project:

  • Skeleton Key:  You have a couple of options here.  1.) order online... I used Kennedy Hardware.com 2.) go on the hunt at antique stores.  (super fun) 3.) look at local hardware store and paint it desired color with spray paint.
  • Necklace: use an old chain or look for a matching chain in the jewelry department of craft stores.  You can use string, ribbon, or leather as well.
  • Charms: you can buy in jewelry stores or make your own.  Watch video for parts needed.
This necklace made from waxed linen.

This chain from Hobby Lobby jewelry section.

Different key choices.  One new three very old.  Can you tell which is new?

Who knows?  Maybe your grandma or grandpa have some keys stashed away somewhere just waiting to be discovered and used again.  Post a picture of your key necklace at showmecute facebook!
