Halloween Treats & Craft Ideas

This week is Halloween and that means Halloween Parties!  I am always looking for new ideas to entertain. These are what I am trying this year!

Caramel Puffcorn\Popcorn
8 oz. Puffcorn or Popped Popcorn
1 cup Butter (do not substitute)
1 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Light Corn Syrup
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
In a sauce pan bring butter, sugar and corn syrup to a boil, then cook for two minutes. Add Baking Soda. Stir well and remove from heat.  Place puffcorn in large mixing bowl.  Pour mixture over Puffcorn. Stir until puff corn is evenly coated.  Place mixture on baking sheets.  Bake in oven at 250 degrees for 45 minutes.  Stir mixture every 15 minutes.  Break apart and enjoy!

Salted Caramel Sauce
1 cup Granulated Sugar
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons Water
1/4 cup Salted Butter, slice into 1 tablespoon pieces
1/2 cup Heavy Cream
1/2 teaspoon Fine Seasalt

-In 2-3 qt. sauce pan, heat sugar and water over medium/high heat whisking constantly to dissolve sugar.  Once mixture reaches a boil, stop whisking and allow mixture to boil until it reaches a dark amber color.  This process takes awhile so be patient.  It will be clear for awhile and gradually turn.  Carefully swirl pan occasionally.
Once your mixture turns the desired color immediately add butter and whisk until butter has melted then immediately remove from heat.
Carefully pour in cream and whisk to combine until smooth.  Stir in seasalt. Pour into a glass jar or container to cool.  Once cool, store in airtight container or refrigerator.
